Independence date of Turkmenistan is 27 October 1991. The Independence Monument commemorates this date with a 27 meter steel construction, an observation platform of 10 meters in diameter, and a 91 meter concrete tower.
The Independence Monument adorns Turkmenistan’s banknotes. The monument also houses an exhibition gallery with historical works and is encircled with the statues of folk heroes.
The monument is built on a total area of 84,500 square meters.
